Para identificar la estructura factorial, se aplicó un análisis factorial exploratorio, bajo el método de mínimos cuadrados no ponderados con rotación Oblimin, a través del cual se encontró que el cuestionario posee tres factores: Diagnóstico asertivo, información y soporte en la comunicación médico-paciente. Asimismo, el análisis de confiabilidad por consistencia interna, con el índice alfa de Cronbach, evidenció adecuados niveles de consistencia interna para los tres factores. Se halló además que el total de la muestra prefiere una comunicación basada en la información en primer lugar, seguido del diagnóstico asertivo y en tercer lugar según el soporte. Finalmente, se discuten los resultados y se proponen lineamientos para futuros estudios.

Finalmente, se discuten los resultados y se proponen lineamientos para futuros estudios.The purpose of this study was to validate the "Measure of Patients Preferences" questionnaire (Parker et al. 2001) in a sample of 190 peruvian cancer patients who were treated in three hospitals in Lima and determine its psychometric properties. To identify the underlying factor structure, an exploratory factor analysis with the unweighted least squares extraction method with Oblimin rotation was conducted. It was found that the questionnaire has three factors: Assertive diagnosis, information and support in physician-patient communication. Similarly, the reliability analysis through Cronbach's alpha, showed adequate levels of internal consistency for the three factors. It was further found that the total sample preferred a communication based on information, followed by an assertive diagnosis and thirdly according to support.
