Despite its label as a public health problem in the region, Latin American BC patients face several barriers in accessing standard of care treatment when compared with patients from developed countries. In this review, we analyse the landscape of the four main identified barriers in the region: i) high burden of locally advanced/advanced BC; ii) inadequate access to medical resources; iii) deficient access to specialised cancer care and iv) insufficient BC research in Latin America. Unfortunately, these barriers represent the main factors associated with the BC poor outcomes seen in the region. Targeted actions should be conducted independently by each country and as a region to overcome these limitations and create an enhanced model of BC care.application/pdf10.3332/ecancer.2019.897https://repositorio.inen.sld.pe/handle/inen/127engEcancermedicalscienceUKCancer Intellilgenceinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessdc.rights.uri: https//creativecomons.org/licenses/by/4.0/Latin Americabreast cancerlocally advanced breast cancerpublic health.https://purl.org/pe-repo/ocde/ford#3.02.21Barriers in Latin America for the management of locally advanced breast cancerinfo:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionreponame:INEN-Institucionalinstname:Instituto Nacional de Enfermedades Neoplásicasinstacron:INENPublicationORIGINAL2019 Pinto.pdfapplication/pdf566088https://repositorio.inen.sld.pe/bitstreams/931b99fd-48c4-4cc8-b703-7379ec37c9ca/downloadc50bf968cff9c4d82f86bbaeee6cd0c2MD51TEXT2019 Pinto.pdf.txt2019 Pinto.pdf.txtExtracted texttext/plain57691https://repositorio.inen.sld.pe/bitstreams/5fce6aab-f6d7-4d03-a469-5a6a23d36437/downloade54f2d73bb92174ec7aa4a3ad075da63MD52THUMBNAIL2019 Pinto.pdf.jpg2019 Pinto.pdf.jpgGenerated Thumbnailimage/jpeg4984https://repositorio.inen.sld.pe/bitstreams/21180d00-1cba-4fe9-a4fb-1a8c988a354a/downloaddb7db627af8c115152c70b0c7248914fMD53inen/127oai:repositorio.inen.sld.pe:inen/1272024-10-23 17:26:34.303dc.rights.uri: https//creativecomons.org/licenses/by/4.0/info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccesshttps://repositorio.inen.sld.peRepositorio INENrepositorioinendspace@gmail.com
