Presenta un panorama de políticas y experiencias sociales en distintos países hacia fines de los años treinta: en Alemania se destaca el enorme crecimiento de la asociación recreativa obrera “La Fuerza mediante la Alegría”, que amplió actividades culturales, deportivas y turísticas para millones de trabajadores; en Chile se analiza la legislación sobre accidentes del trabajo y enfermedades profesionales, junto con la creación del Instituto Traumatológico como ejemplo de medicina social moderna; en Estados Unidos se describe la compleja organización de la asistencia médico-social, combinando iniciativas públicas y privadas; en Gran Bretaña se examina la evolución de la mortalidad por tuberculosis en zonas urbanas y rurales; y finalmente se reseñan experiencias de seguro de enfermedad en Palestina y de acción preventiva del seguro de invalidez y vejez en Suecia, evidenciando una tendencia internacional a fortalecer la protección social y sanitaria |
