The design process considered the inclusion of the directives of the World Meteorological Organization and the place of installation. Then we continued with the assembly and installations in conjunction with a Campbell Scientific station (3800 m) and a HOBO station (5000 m), in order to compare their records. The Arduino Mega 2560 controller used as a datalogger responded adequately, the data captured when compared are very similar to those of the stations. The average difference between the low-cost station and the other two is in temperature 0.193 °C, humidity 1.3% RH, atmospheric pressure 0.14 mbar, solar radiation 5.8%, soil temperature 0.127 °C, wind speed 0.485 m/s and wind direction 1.33°. The cost benefit is 4 to 18 times compared to purchasing a commercial station and certified instrumentation. © 2021 IEEE.Consejo Nacional de Ciencia, Tecnología e Innovación Tecnológica - ConcytecengInstitute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc.Proceedings of the 2021 IEEE 28th International Conference on Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Computing, INTERCON 2021info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessWeather StationArduino-1High mountains-1Low Cost-1Open Source-1https://purl.org/pe-repo/ocde/ford#1.05.09-1Design, Development and Implementation of a Low Cost Weather Station for high mountainsinfo:eu-repo/semantics/conferenceObjectreponame:CONCYTEC-Institucionalinstname:Consejo Nacional de Ciencia Tecnología e Innovacióninstacron:CONCYTEC20.500.12390/2990oai:repositorio.concytec.gob.pe:20.500.12390/29902024-05-30 16:12:53.769http://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_14cbinfo:eu-repo/semantics/closedAccessmetadata only accesshttps://repositorio.concytec.gob.peRepositorio Institucional CONCYTECrepositorio@concytec.gob.pe#PLACEHOLDER_PARENT_METADATA_VALUE##PLACEHOLDER_PARENT_METADATA_VALUE##PLACEHOLDER_PARENT_METADATA_VALUE##PLACEHOLDER_PARENT_METADATA_VALUE#<Publication xmlns="https://www.openaire.eu/cerif-profile/1.1/" id="a21ac838-3a30-4807-a7bf-a017d94eef18"> <Type xmlns="https://www.openaire.eu/cerif-profile/vocab/COAR_Publication_Types">http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_1843</Type> <Language>eng</Language> <Title>Design, Development and Implementation of a Low Cost Weather Station for high mountains</Title> <PublishedIn> <Publication> <Title>Proceedings of the 2021 IEEE 28th International Conference on Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Computing, INTERCON 2021</Title> </Publication> </PublishedIn> <PublicationDate>2021</PublicationDate> <DOI>https://doi.org/10.1109/INTERCON52678.2021.9532835</DOI> <SCP-Number>2-s2.0-85116242911</SCP-Number> <Authors> <Author> <DisplayName>Leon J.L.</DisplayName> <Person id="rp08479" /> <Affiliation> <OrgUnit> </OrgUnit> </Affiliation> </Author> <Author> <DisplayName>Anacona P.I.</DisplayName> <Person id="rp08477" /> <Affiliation> <OrgUnit> </OrgUnit> </Affiliation> </Author> <Author> <DisplayName>Marcos K.M.</DisplayName> <Person id="rp08478" /> <Affiliation> <OrgUnit> </OrgUnit> </Affiliation> </Author> <Author> <DisplayName>Mendocilla C.V.</DisplayName> <Person id="rp08480" /> <Affiliation> <OrgUnit> </OrgUnit> </Affiliation> </Author> </Authors> <Editors> </Editors> <Publishers> <Publisher> <DisplayName>Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc.</DisplayName> <OrgUnit /> </Publisher> </Publishers> <Keyword>Weather Station</Keyword> <Keyword>Arduino</Keyword> <Keyword>High mountains</Keyword> <Keyword>Low Cost</Keyword> <Keyword>Open Source</Keyword>
This research is based on the need to have a measurement tool to carry out different studies that require meteorological information in high mountain areas, therefore, a low-cost weather station based on open source is designed and implemented.
