However, this laboratory diagnosis requires medical specialists which are lacking in many of the areas where these infections are most prevalent. In response to this public health issue, we developed a software based on pattern recognition analysis from microscopi digital images of fecal smears, capable of automatically recognizing and diagnosing common human intestinal parasites.Consejo Nacional de Ciencia, Tecnología e Innovación Tecnológica - ConcytecengPLOSPLOS ONEinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessmathematical algorithmintestinal parasites-1intestinal parasites-1https://purl.org/pe-repo/ocde/ford#1.01.00-1Mathematical algorithm for the automatic recognition of intestinal parasitesinfo:eu-repo/semantics/articlereponame:CONCYTEC-Institucionalinstname:Consejo Nacional de Ciencia Tecnología e Innovacióninstacron:CONCYTEC20.500.12390/1254oai:repositorio.concytec.gob.pe:20.500.12390/12542024-05-30 15:46:07.59http://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_14cbinfo:eu-repo/semantics/closedAccessmetadata only accesshttps://repositorio.concytec.gob.peRepositorio Institucional CONCYTECrepositorio@concytec.gob.pe#PLACEHOLDER_PARENT_METADATA_VALUE##PLACEHOLDER_PARENT_METADATA_VALUE##PLACEHOLDER_PARENT_METADATA_VALUE##PLACEHOLDER_PARENT_METADATA_VALUE##PLACEHOLDER_PARENT_METADATA_VALUE##PLACEHOLDER_PARENT_METADATA_VALUE##PLACEHOLDER_PARENT_METADATA_VALUE#<Publication xmlns="https://www.openaire.eu/cerif-profile/1.1/" id="223b291e-ae86-4bd4-a778-e09cd65c2d9b"> <Type xmlns="https://www.openaire.eu/cerif-profile/vocab/COAR_Publication_Types">http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_1843</Type> <Language>eng</Language> <Title>Mathematical algorithm for the automatic recognition of intestinal parasites</Title> <PublishedIn> <Publication> <Title>PLOS ONE</Title> </Publication> </PublishedIn> <PublicationDate>2017</PublicationDate> <DOI>https://doi.org/10.1371/journal.pone.0175646</DOI> <ISI-Number>399955600030</ISI-Number> <Authors> <Author> <DisplayName>Alva, A</DisplayName> <Person id="rp00907" /> <Affiliation> <OrgUnit> </OrgUnit> </Affiliation> </Author> <Author> <DisplayName>Cangalaya, C</DisplayName> <Person id="rp03618" /> <Affiliation> <OrgUnit> </OrgUnit> </Affiliation> </Author> <Author> <DisplayName>Quiliano, M</DisplayName> <Person id="rp03617" /> <Affiliation> <OrgUnit> </OrgUnit> </Affiliation> </Author> <Author> <DisplayName>Krebs, C</DisplayName> <Person id="rp03619" /> <Affiliation> <OrgUnit> </OrgUnit> </Affiliation> </Author> <Author> <DisplayName>Gilman, RH</DisplayName> <Person id="rp00604" /> <Affiliation> <OrgUnit> </OrgUnit> </Affiliation> </Author> <Author> <DisplayName>Sheen, P</DisplayName> <Person id="rp00526" /> <Affiliation> <OrgUnit> </OrgUnit> </Affiliation> </Author> <Author> <DisplayName>Zimic, M</DisplayName> <Person id="rp00606" /> <Affiliation> <OrgUnit> </OrgUnit> </Affiliation> </Author> </Authors> <Editors> </Editors> <Publishers> <Publisher> <DisplayName>PLOS</DisplayName> <OrgUnit /> </Publisher> </Publishers> <Keyword>mathematical algorithm</Keyword> <Keyword>intestinal parasites</Keyword> <Keyword>intestinal parasites</Keyword>
Parasitic infections are generally diagnosed by professionals trained to recognize the morphological characteristics of the eggs in microscopic images of fecal smears.
