Preliminary experimental work was performed in the laboratories of the Chemical Engineering Department of the Universidad Nacional de San Agustin (Peru).A batch pilot-scale apparatus is described for the study of processes for obtaining phyto-extracts using solvents. The distinctive feature of the equipment is that it provides the efficiency of a multi-stage counter-current extraction, yet uses only a single batch extractor (as opposed to a battery of extractors). This is achieved by using an auxiliary tank in which intermediate extracts are saved and recirculated in a pre-established order. Careful design of the mechanisms for the circulation of liquid from such tanks has resulted in an apparatus that is compact and has simple, flexible operation. A prototype of this apparatus was constructed for the study of the direct extraction of oil from sunflower seeds using hexane A simple model that describes the operation of the equipment is presented and applied to our experimental work with oilseeds.Consejo Nacional de Ciencia, Tecnología e Innovación Tecnológica - ConcytecengTaylor and Francis Ltd.Chemical Engineering Communicationsinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccesssunflower oilseedCounter-current-1pilot-scale-1phyto-extracts-1https://purl.org/pe-repo/ocde/ford#1.04.00-1Study of solid-liquid extractions in a batch equipmentinfo:eu-repo/semantics/articlereponame:CONCYTEC-Institucionalinstname:Consejo Nacional de Ciencia Tecnología e Innovacióninstacron:CONCYTEC#PLACEHOLDER_PARENT_METADATA_VALUE##PLACEHOLDER_PARENT_METADATA_VALUE##PLACEHOLDER_PARENT_METADATA_VALUE##PLACEHOLDER_PARENT_METADATA_VALUE##PLACEHOLDER_PARENT_METADATA_VALUE##PLACEHOLDER_PARENT_METADATA_VALUE##PLACEHOLDER_PARENT_METADATA_VALUE#20.500.12390/906oai:repositorio.concytec.gob.pe:20.500.12390/9062024-05-30 15:51:53.618http://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_14cbinfo:eu-repo/semantics/closedAccessmetadata only accesshttps://repositorio.concytec.gob.peRepositorio Institucional CONCYTECrepositorio@concytec.gob.pe#PLACEHOLDER_PARENT_METADATA_VALUE#<Publication xmlns="https://www.openaire.eu/cerif-profile/1.1/" id="79e7cde7-c811-4106-afae-b1e24e48821f"> <Type xmlns="https://www.openaire.eu/cerif-profile/vocab/COAR_Publication_Types">http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_1843</Type> <Language>eng</Language> <Title>Study of solid-liquid extractions in a batch equipment</Title> <PublishedIn> <Publication> <Title>Chemical Engineering Communications</Title> </Publication> </PublishedIn> <PublicationDate>1998</PublicationDate> <DOI>https://doi.org/10.1080/00986449808912694</DOI> <SCP-Number>2-s2.0-11644294235</SCP-Number> <Authors> <Author> <DisplayName>Escobedo F.A.</DisplayName> <Person id="rp02393" /> <Affiliation> <OrgUnit> </OrgUnit> </Affiliation> </Author> </Authors> <Editors> </Editors> <Publishers> <Publisher> <DisplayName>Taylor and Francis Ltd.</DisplayName> <OrgUnit /> </Publisher> </Publishers> <Keyword>sunflower oilseed</Keyword> <Keyword>Counter-current</Keyword> <Keyword>pilot-scale</Keyword> <Keyword>phyto-extracts</Keyword>
A batch pilot-scale apparatus is described for the study of processes for obtaining phyto-extracts using solvents.
