Sumario:OBJECTIVES: To determine the angle pubouretrovesical (APUV) and pubourethral distance in patients with urinary incontinence (SUI) and in healthy women. MATERIALS AND METHODS: 30 women per group, aged 38-65 years, who underwent perineal ultrasound to record the APUV, urethral mobility and bladder neck distance to the pubic symphysis was considered. RESULTS: It was determined that APUV averaged USI: rest 77 °, Valsalva 124.6 °, retention and urethral mobility 67.9 ° 47.6 °; while in healthy women it was found 64.5 °, 78.9 °, 60.7 ° and 14.3 ° respectively. The distance pubourethral averaged IUE: rest 28.3 mm, 25.6 mm and retention Valsalva 28.4 mm; however, in normal women 29.1 mm, 26.4 mm and 29.5 mm respectively it was found. There were only statistical difference in APUV resting, Valsalva and urethral mobility. Applying at least two of these three criteria, a sensitivity of 93.3%, specificity 90.0%, PPV 90.3% and NPV 93.1% was calculated. CONCLUSIONS: The perineal ultrasound is a useful method for diagnosing IVE.
