Yellow fever in Peru is currently wild. The infection is localized in some endemic focal points in the Peruvian jungle. Lethality is high and may be close to 50%. There is no antiviral therapy and prevention is effective by vaccination. When pregnant women are infected by the yellow fever virus they can present various complications, fetal and maternal, including death of both fetus and mother. Vaccination against yellow fever is with live virus and is contraindicated during pregnancy.
La fiebre amarilla en el Perú es de tipo silvestre en la actualidad. La infección está localizada en algunos focos endémicos de la selva peruana. Su letalidad es alta y puede llegar a un 50%. No existe terapia antiviral alguna y solo es efectiva la prevención a través de la vacunación. Cuando las gestantes se infectan por el virus de la fiebre amarilla, pueden presentar diversas complicaciones, tanto fetales como maternas, llegando incluso a la muerte del feto y de la madre. Siendo la vacunación contra la fiebre amarilla con virus vivo, esta práctica está contraindicada durante el embarazo.
