Morphology and reproduction of Porphyra pseudolanceolata Krishnamurthy (Bangiales, Rhodophyta) in the Peruvian coast

This study on Porphyra pseudolanceolata Krish. has as its principal objective to determine if the reason, for an observed abundance of small individuals, growing on the same substratum is due to the presence of neutrospores and, thereby, to asexual reproduction. Other objectives were to study the difierentiation of reproductive structures on both monoecious and dioecious individuals, and to investigate the life cycle and ecology of this species which like Porphyra columbina Mont., is used for human consumption.
El presente estudio referido a Porphyra pseudolanceolata Krish. tiene como objetivo principal indagar si las causas de la abundancia de ejemplares de dicha especie en un mismo hábitat se debe a la presencia de neutrosporas, como una forma asexual de reproducción; conocer también la diferenciación de las estructuras reproductivas en una misma planta o en diferentes plantas. Conocer el ciclo vital y la ecología de la especie que también es usada en la alimentación humana junto con Porphyra columbina Mont.
