Descripción
Sumario:Religious preaching has served two main functions for centuries: orthodoxy andorthopraxy. It also played an important role in politics, like legitimizing the fledglingModern State in the late centuries of the middle ages. In the case of ourcountry, an interesting example has been the colonial debate referred to the ImmaculateConception which will be discussed in this paper in a different politicalcontext. The sermons which celebrated the victory of the Battle of Ayacucho arevaluable for the occasion, the language and, especially, for the relationship stillmanifest between the civil and religious power.
