This article refers to talent: specifying definitions, explanatory models and identification of the same. Subsequently, it focuses on mathematical talent: how it is conceptualized, the usefulness of its identification in educational institutions, the importance of teachers’ knowledge of the diversity of students presented in the classroom, and then support creating an environment of true educational inclusion, considering the individuality of each student.

A descriptive and comparative study is conducted in order to compare the self-esteem and social skills in adolescents with mathematical talent according to their sex. The participants were 16 men and 13 women, between the ages of 12 and 16 years old, living in Lima and coming from the capital and provinces. The Self-Esteem Inventory (SEI) to children and adolescents by Coopersmith and the List of Checkup of Social Abilities by Goldstein were used as instruments. The results in general, show low levels of self-esteem and average level of social skills in men and women. Women present higher expectations in the terms of study and they are more satisfied with their performance in mathematic. Se realizó una investigación con la finalidad de determinar el efecto del Programa “Psicoinvestigando” en las competencias investigativas de discentes de Psicología de Lima, Perú. La metodología contempla un nivel explicativo, aplicado y diseño preexperimental con pre y pos test con un solo grupo. Los participantes fueron 15 estudiantes de octavo ciclo, varones y mujeres con edades entre 19 a 25 años; evaluados antes y después de la intervención con la Rúbrica de Evaluación de Competencias Investigativas (RECI), instrumento elaborado para fines del presente estudio.
