The article proposes an approach to Viejas ilusiones, work of the playwright Eduardo Rovner. It will seek to analyze the main dramaturgical tools and strategies applied in the text: how dramatic tension is generated, how humor operates, what criteria are applied in character profiling and, in general, how these and other mechanisms are combined in the play. The study concludes that the play builds dramatic tension through the simultaneous use of three levels of conflict. Also, that the age proposal of the characters constitutes a comic premise that opens a spectrum of games and perspectives that sustain humor, promote theatricality and stimulate the viewer’s awareness of artifice. Se buscará profundizar en la naturaleza cómica de la pieza, así como en las principales técnicas y decisiones escriturales presentes en su construcción. Para ello, se propone el estudio preliminar de otro caso latinoamericano: la obra “Tratando de hacer una obra que cambie el mundo“, de la compañía “La Re-Sentida“. Se colocará especial énfasis en cómo las técnicas dramatúrgicas se articulan y qué efectos producen en el espectador. El estudio concluye que el humor en “El conflicto“ nace de la perspectiva cómica de los personajes, así como de los juegos corales y metateatrales que la pieza propone: ruptura de la cuarta pared, teatro sobre el teatro, explicitación de la acción dramática, y, en particular, la inclusión de múltiples instancias de mirantes.
