Citrus, one of the most important fruit crops in the world and also they are sensitive to salt stress. The negative effects of stresses often lead to reductions in fruit yield and quality. To assess the effects of salinity on some growth traits, a greenhouse test was performed with the cultivars ‘Mihowase’, ‘Primosole’ and ‘W. Murcott’ as grafted on ‘Cleopatra’ and ‘Swingle citrumelo’ as rootstocks. The experiment was conducted at the Agrarian Experimental Station of National Institution for Agricultural Innovation in Donoso-Huaral, ubicated 90 km north of Lima. The plants were irrigated with water plus NaCl with an Electrical Conductivity of 0.5 or 4.5 dS/m as salt stress. The variables under evaluation were leave losses, fresh and dry weight of stem, leaves and roots as well as relative water content in the plants. The results showed that the rootstocks ‘Cleopatra...

Objectives: To determine the biological cycle of H. virescens and the comparative efficiency of bioinsecticides of Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) (native strain) with respect to Bt (Kurstaki strain) and nuclear polyhedrosis virus (NPV), on fifth instar larvae. Methodology: Postures and larvae of H. virescens were collected from agricultural farms in Huaral (Lima) and reared in the laboratory. The Bt and NPV strains were applied to fifth instar larvae under field conditions, evaluating larval mortality at 72 hours using Tukey's test with the Infostat software. Results: It was found that the life cycle of H. virescens was 77.78 ± 9.14 days with complete metamorphosis. Larval mortality was statistically similar (p> 0.05) with native Bt and Bt Kurstaki treatments, and NPV application outperformed (p< 0.05) both Bt treatments in fifth instar larval mortality. Conclusion: The life cycle of Helio...

Blueberry cultivation has recently become a rapidly expanding export industry in Peru. With few to no official records of phytosanitary problems up to date. Nevertheless, as observed in other major blueberry producer countries, pests occurrences have been already reported. This study presents a comprehensive biological and molecular characterization of a novel blueberry pest, identifying it as a member of the Tortricidae family in the genus Platynota. The insect’s average life cycle was determined to be 46.3 days for males and 48.6 days for females, with the larval stage being the longest (25.4 days on average), and the most destructive due to its feeding behavior, which significantly damages buds and fruits. Morphological analysis of the genitalia, along with a comparison of its complete mitochondrial DNA, further supports the conclusion that this pest is a new species. These findings...
