Critical studies on the Peruvian Traditions have addressed the treatment of space, eminently urban (Lima) in the work, pointing to the importance of the characters and “intrahistory” on descriptive aspects of Peruvian landscape and nature. Nevertheless, a revision of the Traditions from the point of view of the treatment of geography, landscape and nature, reveals fragments in which it acquires an importance that, although overlapping, imposes routes to the urban history and, therefore, to the stories rescued and recreated by the traditionist.

The letters between Ricardo Palma and Rafael Altamira, some of them published in the General Epistolary of the traditionist by the Ricardo Palma University, and others in the Miguel de Cervantes Virtual Library (the last one coming from the Altamira legacy deposited in the Secondary Education Institute Jorge Juan de Alicante) are a first-rate source for research on cultural relations between the two intellectuals. This relationship is paradigmatic of the reestablishment of the bridges of communication brought about by the events of ‘98, in the context of the controversy between Latins and Anglo-Saxons that marked the inter-century period. Décadas antes de que Gilberto Triviños definiera La Araucana como tragedia, en lugarde como epopeya, José Durand había lanzado su visión evolutiva de la obra del IncaGarcilaso desde La Florida como epopeya, los Comentarios reales como utopía y la Historiageneral del Perú como tragedia. Partiendo de esta coincidencia, este artículo tratade reflexionar sobre divergencias y convergencias que nos permitan seguir analizandoestas obras en relación con el contexto ideológico de los Siglos de Oro, así como establecerlos lazos para visualizar ambas obras en la controvertida evolución de las letrascoloniales hispanoamericanas.

In the poetic work of José Antonio Mazzotti, a Peruvian author of Italian descent, the presence of the Italian cultural world is a constant that takes shape both in the use of the figure of Dante and the Divine Comedy for the poetization of Peru of the violence of the 1980s, as in mythological references that are updated for a poetic reading of the present. This article aims at analyzing some of the paradigmatic poems of this presence and trace this mythological line, in order to project the presence and relevance of Italy, its culture and its history as a whole, in the poetic work of Mazzotti.

Los estudios críticos sobre las Tradiciones peruanas han abordado el tratamiento del espacio, eminentemente urbano (limeño) en la obra, apuntando a la importancia de los personajes y la “intrahistoria” sobre aspectos descriptivos del paisaje y la naturaleza peruanas. No obstante, una revisión de las Tradiciones desde el punto de vista del tratamiento de la geografía, el paisaje y la naturaleza, revela fragmentos en los que esta adquiere una importancia que, si bien solapada, impone derroteros a la historia urbana y, por ende, a las historias rescatadas y recreadas por el tradicionista.

El análisis de la relación de Juan Meléndez Festiva pompa, culto religioso, veneración reverente, fiesta, aclamación, y aplauso: a la feliz beatificación de la bienaventurada virgen Rosa de S. María (Lima, 1671) arroja luz sobre la función de las relaciones de fiestas como discursos que a lo largo del siglo XVII contribuyeron a la conformación de la identidad en el contexto virreinal. La utilización de Santa Rosa para la realización de una reivindicación americanista frente a España convierte esta relación en texto fundamental del criollismo a fines del siglo XVII. Al estudio del texto en este sentido, en conexión con otra obra del mismo autor, Tesoros verdaderos de las Indias (1681), se dedica el presente artículo.

Este artículo propone un acercamiento a la primera obra de Ricardo Sumalavia, Habitaciones (1993), desde el punto de vista de la construcción de una nueva visión literaria enraizada en la ciudad, en la serie de relatos que la componen. Inserta en la diversa tradición de la literatura urbana del Perú en el siglo XX, la obra de Sumalavia crea un nuevo planteamiento a través del fragmento y de la historia mínima que transcurre en la ciudad real e imaginada, ya no para referenciar los cambios o el mapa social al modo de sus antecesores más directos, sino para, desde la ciudad, profundizar en comportamientos humanos que son universales. It is only recently that Ribeyro has been extensively published. He hasalso received recognition from the academic world, especially fromEuropean critics. In this article, is it shown that, even when Ribeyrodisdained up-to-date recipes and technical novelties, his work stands asmodem as ever. A proposal to consider Ribeyro's urban imagining asanirradiating axis of fundamental questions is here substantiated.
