The main objective of this assay was evaluated that virus is infecting papaya Carica papaya in northern Peru and have symptomatology characterization of them. The incidence and severity of virus was examined by diseases symptoms consist of mosaic, yellowing, chlorosis, leaf distortion (“frogs foot”), filiform leaf, blistering, greasy-appearing streak on stems and petioles, ringspot and streaking on fruits in farmers field of Paijan, Chepen, Motupe, Monsefú, Túcume, Tambogrande, Chulucanas and Corrales and samples with symptoms were collected. Our surveys conducted in northern Peru showed an incidence between 7 and 100 % and a severity between 8.3 and 77.5% according to evaluation scale 2 (new leaves with chlorosis and leaf distortion, mild mosaic, leaves with pallid reticulate, 3-5 leaf affected) and 3 (chlorosis, leaf apical distortion, severe mosaic, blistering and frogs foot).
