The seismic design of buildings is usually performed using one-way analysis for each of main axes independently. However, seismic events have fairly random behaviour and impose bidirectional solicitations on structures. In this work, the study of the response in structures subjects to earthquake loads with irregularity of l-shaped plan and soft story is carried out. For this, the linear time-story analysis (LTHA) of these has been carried out imposing seismic solicitations in two orthogonal directions. Thus, the structural response with incidence angle variations of 10 is obtained and compared with the response derived from the unidirectional analysis. Variations of up to 50% and 72% are obtained for model structures with l-shaped plan and soft story respectively.

The·objective of OUT work is to propase end analyze a decoding procedure useful to achieve unprecedented spatial and temporal resolution in CW S-band radar measurements at the AO. We find that using hard limiting transformations of the detected echoes (to achieve computational speed) does not distort significantly the process of spectral estimation. Moreover our procedure is efficient in the sense that statistical accuracy of individual estimates is kept with small increase in (coherent) integration time specially if the time series is oversampled. These characteristics make our estimation method very convenient.

The Minifiber EC (MFEC) is a portable instrument for measuring the diameter of animal fibers. Its accuracy and precision have been estimated but by comparing its measurements with those of laboratory devices that had been calibrated on other devices in turn, not on a direct or primary measure of diameter. This work attempts to test direct measurements by gravimetry, Vernier mini caliper, microscope and the classic microprojector, using a non-deformable, high resistance synthetic fiber (Kevlar) for direct measurement. The MFEC instrument is calibrated with each mean fiber diameter obtained in direct measurements and its results are compared. The conclusions drawn are that it is possible to calibrate the MFEC instrument with direct measurements on Kevlar and measurement accuracy or tolerance of 0.28 microns is obtained. This indicates a very low biased mean fiber diameter measurement by MF...

This study aims to improve the fabric-cutting process of cotton garment-exporting micro and small businesses by identifying and eliminating waste, defined as the processes that do not add value in cutting area of a textile company. In addition, the lean manufacturing approach is applied by employing tools such as value stream mapping (VSM), single-minute exchange of dies (SMED), and work standardisation. The proposed philosophy is based on data analysis, economic validation, and simulation using the historical data from the company under study. Consequently, a decline in default rework and delayed processes along with an increase in the productivity index is expected.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of protein supplementation at service and before delivery on the load of gastrointestinal nematodes in naturally infested dairy goats. Two groups of 17 goats were evaluated: control group (SinSu) without supplementation and supplemented (ConSu) with 19% protein during service and 45 days prepartum. The animals were monitored every 15 days during service and in the 45 days before lambing and monthly during the rest of the trial. The parasitic load (eggs per gram of feces – epg) and their differentiation into genus were determined, in addition to the hematocrit, total proteins, body condition (BCS) and clinical and Famacha grade. The weight of the offspring and milk production at 90 days were recorded. No significant differences were found in epg of the two groups before lambing, but protein supplementation resulted in a lower parasitic lo...
