The objective of the study was to describe the body mass index of first academic semester students of the Veterinary Medicine and Animal Husbandry School of the National University Micaela Bastidas from Apurímac (UNAMBA). The research design was of an analytical cross-sectional type at three different moments. The total of first-semester students from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Husbandry of UNAMBA from 2017 to 2019 participated in the study. The nutritional status was determined anthropometrically, at through the Body Mass Index, based on current protocols of the Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization.
