Objective. To determine the sociodemographic, obstetric, and pathological risk factors in preterm delivery of adolescent pregnant women in a hospital in the Junin region, Peru. Materials and Methods. Clinical records of 67 pregnant women and 134 controls between 10 and 19 years of age with a diagnosis of preterm delivery attended from January to December 2022 were reviewed. Bivariate and multiple logistic regression analysis was performed, as well as chi-square analysis with a significance of 0.05. Results. A positive, direct (OR>1) and significant (p<0.05) relationship was determined with the occurrence of preterm birth for the risk variables and multiple regression: Age 10-14 years (OR: 17.162; 95%CI: 1.665 - 176.925; reference "15-19 years"), housewife occupation (OR: 6.056; 95%CI: 2.699 - 13.587; reference "other occupations"), number of Pre-Natal Birth Controls (PNC) less than...

The association of gastrointestinal parasitism with body weight, haematocrit and the FAMACHA method was determined in Junín sheep (lambs and rams) from the Stud group of SAIS Túpac Amaru Ltda. No. 1, Junín Region, Peru. The study was carried out in two seasons: May (dry) and October (rainy). In total, 109 rams and 98 lambs were sampled in May and 89 rams and 85 lambs in October 2018. There was a negative correlation between the haematocrit and the transformed value of parasite load. All the animals were positive to gastrointestinal parasites, finding a higher parasite load in males in October and in May in females. In May there were more cases of animals resistant to parasitism than in October. The highest frequency of gastrointestinal parasites was Nematodirus (50%), followed by Trichostrongylus (25%) and Ostertagia (15%).

Rice (Oryza sativa L) is an important source of essential elements but also can contain high As concentrations, which may be consumed and causes health effects. This work aimed to contribute to the lack of information quantifying the total arsenic (tAs) in 31 domestic rice (white rice, n=19; brown rice, n=7; parboiled rice, n=5) of different brands purchased in Peruvian markets. The tAs content was conducted by ICP-MS. The tAs concentration was compared to the maximum limits prescribed by regulatory agencies. Dietary intake (DI), dietary exposure (DE), and margin of exposure (MOE) were estimated. tAs concentration in white, brown and parboiled rice were 0.292 ± 0.106 mg/kg, 0.401 ± 0.081 mg/kg, 0.229 ± 0.03 mg/kg, respectively. Arsenic concentration in white rice exceeded limits recommended by FAO/WHO (0.20 mg kg-1), and European legislation (0.25 mg kg-1), but no Mercosul limits (0.3...

The objective of this research was to predict the live weight of Corriedale lambs using morphological measurements and machine learning algorithms. A total of 291 five-month-old lambs from the Corpacancha Production Unit of SAIS PACHACÚTEC SAC were used. These animals represented a homogeneous group in terms of age, sex, and genetics, as they belonged to the Corriedale breed and were offspring of "Category A" ewes. Morphological measurements recorded included Body Length (BL), Withers Height (WH), Thoracic Girth (TG), Rump Width (RW), Abdominal Girth (AG), Cannon Bone Length (CBL), Chest Depth (CD), and Live Weight (LW). The models evaluated were Multiple Linear Regression, Ridge Regression, Decision Trees, Random Forest, and XGBoost. The comparative analysis of the machine learning models identified ModG and Ridge as the most accurate and stable options, standing out for their low Mean...
