Este trabajo es una investigación acerca del nivel de competencias matemáticas en las aulas de segundo grado de primaria. La investigación es cuantitativa, de nivel descriptivo, tipo es básico y diseño descriptivo comparativo; es decir, se propone describir y comparar las características del nivel de competencias matemáticas de dos grupos de estudiantes de segundo grado de primaria, sin que los sujetos evaluados sean expuestos a alguna alteración o estímulo. Los participantes evaluados fueron 20 estudiantes de una institución pública y 26 estudiantes de una institución privada, pertenecientes a segundo grado de primaria. Para la recolección de datos, se empleó como instrumento un cuestionario para medir el nivel de competencias matemáticas.
