The aim of this study was to evaluate the growth capacity of environmental strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Bacillus sp., Aspergillus niger and Penicillium sp. isolated from mechanical workshops in Iquitos, in the presence of petroleum hydrocarbons. The experimental design was explanatory, with a longitudinal approach and non-probabilistic sampling, dividing the strains into three groups: control, experimental 1 (1% diesel) and experimental 2 (2% diesel). Samples were taken from surfaces in the workshops and cultured on media with diesel (TSA and PDA) as the sole carbon source. The results showed that Pseudomonas aeruginosa increased significantly in proliferation, with Colony Forming Units (CFU) increasing from 112.3 CFU/m³ in the control (T0) to 437.3 CFU/m³ in the 2% diesel treatment (T2). El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo general, determinar los perfiles de resistencia de cepas de Pseudomonas aeruginosa de origen ambiental e intrahospitalario frente a metales pesados en Iquitos – Perú, para tal efecto se recolectaron un total de 60 muestras ambientales mediante la técnica del hisopado sobre superficies sólidas. Los muestreos se realizaron en los puntos PT001, S 03°45.974’ W 73°15.867’, PT002, S 03°45.543’ W 73°15.113’ y PT003, S 03°44.205’ W 73°15.565’ que corresponden a talleres de mecánica. De las 60 muestras obtenidas, sólo el 16.7 % resultaron positivas a Pseudomonas aeruginosa (n=10) y el resto (83.3%) resultaron negativas.
