Law and literature is a line of research that seeks to create a fruitful dialogue between the set of principles and norms of justice and order of social legal science, and the symbolisation and representation of human and social problems in literature. There are different ways of approaching these disciplinary knowledges. This article explains this interaction based on the experience with justice of the writers Enrique López Albújar (1872-1966) and César Vallejo (1892-1938). It is proposed that the interaction between law and literature should be carried out on three levels: approaching the intellectual formation of the authors, focusing on their experience with justice and analysing how the theme of justice is represented in their texts.

The centenary of the publication of César Vallejo’s Trilce (1922) merits an examination of the topics that organise the universe of its significance. This research article focuses its attention on the explanation of two fundamental topics: the figuration of the mother (the family centred on her presence and the rituals that revolve around her) and the representation of prison. For the development of the reflections on the first topic, poems XXIII and XXVIII are taken as the object of study, and for the second, poems XXII, XVIII-LVIII and L. The analysis will allow us to understand that the elements that allude to the family universe model a sort of maternalisation of the world; a poetic construction where the presence of the mother is a capital figure, energy and a force that produces meaning, and her absence marks the experience of life as traumatic and empty. The article is focused on three traditions of Ricardo Palma Soriano (1833-1919), found in his work Tradiciones peruanas: «¡A la cárcel todo Cristo!», «El corregidor de Tinta» and «Justos y pecadores». It examines how, in these traditions, the author introduces some reflections on justice. Specifically, it explains his ideas about equality before the law, that is, the justice as a practice of violence and the need for reflective and technical principles for the actors of justice to carry out their work objectively. This approach has an implicit methodological concern with law and literature. Therefore, the literary text is taken to explain its reflective potentialities about justice. Thus, categories of history, law, and literature will be used in the explanation.

Este artículo pretende analizar y explicar cómo se hacen visibles estos detalles reflexivos y cromáticos en el poemario Extravagancias.
