El presente estudio presenta un análisis descriptivo y exploratorio de las trayectorias de los sistemas nacionales de I+D para el período 2000 – 2021. Para realizar lo anterior se utilizaron variables de esfuerzo innovador como la intensidad en I+D, y de resultado como las patentes y las publicaciones. Además, se consideró la productividad como variable para indicar el desempeño económico de estos sistemas. Se dividió la muestra de 37 países OCDE en 5 quintiles de acuerdo al desempeño de la productividad durante el período de estudio. El análisis exploratorio y descriptivo destaca casos de sistemas de I+D que han dado un salto importante en productividad durante el período, destacando Irlanda y los países Bálticos.
