The Betaarterivirus suid 1 and Betaarterivirus suid 2 species of the Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome (PRRS) virus cause severe outbreaks due to genetic recombination with high epidemiological risk, which requires rapid identification for efficient molecular epidemiological surveillance.
