Objetivo. El objetivo del presente estudio fue determinar la frecuencia de gestantes portadoras de Streptococcus agalactiae en el periodo comprendido entre enero a mayo del 2016 en el Hospital Nacional Cayetano Heredia, así mismo, comparar la frecuencia de acuerdo a la zona de colonización en secreción vaginal y ano-rectal, y explorar la asociación entre las características clínicas y sociodemográficas con ser portador de este microorganismo. Material y Métodos. Se analizaron muestras de secreción vaginal y ano-rectal de 53 gestantes a partir de las 35 semanas de gestación para aislar y posteriormente identificar la presencia de Streptococcus agalactiae de acuerdo al protocolo de procesos estandarizados (crecimiento en medio cultivo, coloración gram, prueba de la catalasa, prueba de CAMP y resistencia a la bacitracina). Peru is one of the countries with the highest leadcontamination in the world. Biological monitoring has lim-itations due to the shortage of laboratories with validatedmethodologies for the measurement of blood lead, and it isnecessary to use alternative methods for its measurement inhigh-altitude cities. We aimed to compare the blood leadlevels (BLL) measured by the LeadCare II (LC) method andGraphite Furnace Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (GF-AAS). We measured the BLL of 108 children from the city ofLa Oroya. The mean and median BLL for GF-AAS were10.77±4.18 and 10.44lg/dL, respectively; for the LCmethod, the mean was 11.71±4.28 and the median was11.60lg/dL.
