La seguridad alimentaria y las enfermedades cardiometabólicas son serios problemas en salud pública, especialmente en países en vías de desarrollo. El objetivo de esta tesis fue elaborar una propuesta de estrategia regional de seguridad alimentaria y nutricional en base a los resultados del estado de la seguridad alimentaria y prevalencia de enfermedades cardiometabólicas. Se trata de una investigación básica con diseño no experimental, descriptivo propositivo; se utilizó un muestreo probabilístico polietápico encuestándose a 252 familias de la región Lambayeque indagando la prevalencia de enfermedades cardiometabólicas y seguridad alimentaria con la Escala Latinoamericana y Caribeña de seguridad alimentaria (ELCSA). Dr. Hernan Miranda-Cueto was born on April 7th, 1924 in Acobamba province, Huancavelica. He studied medicine in San Fernando medical School, which belongs to San Marcos University. Dr. Miranda was the third Dean of Trujillo University School of Medicine, and he also was appointed as Emeritus Professor. He was a well-recognized researcher and he had a great influence in training many new generations of physicians, not only by teaching medicine, but also by sharing his experience and humanity with his pupils. Dr. Miranda passed away on April 30th, 2009.
