El rol del odontólogo es proporcionar atención bucodental segura, de calidad y justa a cada paciente. La situación actual de la salud bucal en el Perú es que cada nueve de cada diez niños sufren de caries, lo cual no ha bajado en los últimos 15 años.

As the orthodontic treatments have been increasing, the pathologies resulting from poor plaque control have also increased while the laps of the treatment ; There is a considerable increase in the appearance of caries or white spots after orthodontic treatments as well as periodontal disease. The control of plaque is extremely important since when presenting orthodontic attachments we diminish the capacity self-cleaning as well as we increase the retentive zones and prone to the formation of the biofilm. To prevent patients from presenting this problem, it is decided to make a bibliographic review and thus propose an alternative for the clinician.

ABSTRACT Background: a significant increase in the resistance of some antimicrobial periodontopathogens traditionally used as adjuncts in periodontal therapy has been reported. Objective: to assess the susceptibility of Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans and Porphyromonas gingivalis to moxifloxacin and amoxicillin clavulanic acid in patients with chronic periodontitis. Methods: an observational cross-sectional study of the universe composed of 30 patients with chronic periodontitis was conducted. Microbiological samples processing were performed following protocols described previously. Disk diffusion tests were used to assess the susceptibility of A. actinomycetemcomitans and P. gingivalis against moxifloxacin and amoxicillin clavulanic acid.
