En este documento, se presentan los resultados de un estudio realizado en la Universidad Estatal a Distancia de Costa Rica sobre habilidades metacognitivas y estrategias de autorregulación con un grupo de 158 personas estudiantes. Para la recolección de datos, se utilizó una versión adaptada al contexto latinoamericano (Huertas-Bustos et al. 2014) del inventario de habilidades metacognitivas (MAI) creado por Schraw y Denninson (1994). Dentro de los principales resultados de la investigación, se encontró que la mayoría de las personas participantes se autoperciben con alto nivel de dominio en las habilidades metacognitivas, lo que les permite ser conscientes de sus fortalezas y debilidades en los diferentes procesos que desarrollan a lo largo de su formación universitaria.
