Proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR) a serious complication for type 2 diabetes mellitus, it is it is one of the leading causes for blindness worldwide. Inflammation, oxidative stress and neoangiogenesis play a crucial role in PDR pathogenesis. Red blood cell distribution width (RDW) is an inflammatory...

OR 5.27 IC [3.10 – 8.95] p <0.000) perímetro abdominal (OR 2...

Objective: To determine the factors associated with the level of knowledge about exclusive breastfeeding in first-time mothers attended by teleconsultation of the National Maternal-Perinatal Institute in 2020. Materials and methods: Study with a quantitative approach, descriptive, observational, cross-sectional, and analytical design. The population was made up of a total of 1000 primiparous mothers attended by teleconsultation at the National Maternal Perinatal Institute, taking a representative sample of 240. A reliable and valid instrument was used to measure knowledge in exclusive breastfeeding, statistical association tests were performed and bivariate and multiple Poisson regression model to obtain the raw and adjusted prevalence ratio and their 95% confidence intervals for the associated factors and exclusive breastfeeding categories. Results: a high 75.7% level of knowledge about...

INTRODUCTION: The most frequent cause of preterm birth is idiopathic; however, there are various risk factors that could trigger it, which with early diagnosis and timely management could reduce neonatal morbidity and mortality and subsequent sequelae. OBJECTIVE: To determine the maternal risk factors that predispose to premature birth in pregnant adolescents treated at the Hospital Nacional Dos de Mayo, during the period 2018 - 2019. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Analytical, observational, retrospective, case-control study. 180 pregnant women aged 10-19 years were studied, divided into 60 cases and 120 controls. The information from the medical records was compiled using a data collection form, ensuring that the inclusion and exclusion criteria were met. The results were adjusted using a multivariate binary logistic regression model. RESULTS: The average maternal age was 17.49 years, 71.7% of ...

Objective: To evaluate the relationship between anthropometric profile and serve speed in male Peruvian tennis players. Methods: A quantitative, observational, cross-sectional, and analytical study was conducted with 79 male tennis players from the FiXU sports medical center in Lima, Peru, during 2023 and 2024. Variables such as height, weight, BMI, and limb dimensions were measured. Serve speed was assessed using a calibrated speed gun. Results: The average serve speed was 94.38 km/h (±9.98). The average height of the players was 174.61 cm (±4.17) and the average weight was 72.20 kg (±6.97). Height (r=0.796) and weight (r=0.533) showed significant correlations with serve speed. Weekly playing hours (r=0.611) and years of experience (r=0.435) also showed positive associations. Linear regression identified height (B=1.91, p<0.001), weight (B=0.76, p<0.001), and forearm length (B=...
