The excretion of human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) has been measured during normal pregnancy by using the hemagglutination technique of Wide and Gemzell. A total of 553 24 hr. urine collections were obtained from 425 pregnant women. The mean values for HCG presented a biphasic curve with a peak of 90.000 i.u. for the weeks 10- 12th., decreasing then gradually to a value of 30.000 and 21.000 i.u. in the 20th. and 30th. week respectively. A comparative study between the quantification of HCG in 24 hr. Urine collections and the morning sample calculated as an aliquot of one liter of urine did not show differences.

Using for the first time in our country international standard chorionic gonadotropin, we have observed seasonal changes in sensitivity to the release of sperm in the common toad Lima, in similar fashion to that presented various species of frogs in other countries. The results have appreciated the theoretical effective dose in IU for each station, values of 50 or finding DEM between 9 and 15 IU, with maximum sensitivity in spring, decreasing in summer and minimum in autumn, only to increase again in winter. Using these reports, as is understood, it is provided in our quantitative determination of human chorionic gonadotropin in international units using the Bufo spinulosus and using the dose-response curves for each station represented in a diagram, regardless of the time of year in which they work. However, we wish to state that the method is valid only for qualifications in blood and ...

We have studied the interplay of hypothalamus-pituitary and ovarian cancer for three months in three cases of young women with dysfunctional uterine bleeding, by radioimmunoassays serial plasma determinations of FSH, LH, estradiol and progesterone. In 2 patients novulatorios cycles were observed even after administration of clomiphene citrate, presenting at least partial failure, LH surge in response to sharp increases, although irregular, estradiol, follicle from additional secretion. In a probable case it was presented spontaneous ovulatory cycle and then induced by clomiphene. In turn, plasma elevations of LH and FSH, found during treatment with clomiphene and subsequent follicular development, indicate that remained intact negative feedback mechanism between estrogen and the gonadotropins. Judging from these findings, it seems that there are changes in the sensitivity of the hypothal...

By using the Brown's procedure the authors have measured the urinary excretion of estrone, estradiol and estriol in a group of 10 normal women. Two peaks of excretion were observed: the first corresponding to ovulation and a second one in the luteal phase; both were significantly different of the values obtained in the first phase of the cycle.
