Cyclic vomiting syndrome is a benign, chronic, functional gastrointestinal pathology that manifests clinically with intense nausea and vomiting interspersed with asymptomatic periods. Its diagnosis is made according to the Rome IV criteria, which require the presence of at least 2 episodes of vomiting in the past 6 months or 3 or more episodes in the past year, with the corresponding exclusion of secondary causes that can explain the vomiting. We present the case of a 44-year-old man who consulted for intermittent nausea and vomiting of 1 year evolution with hydroelectrolytic repercussion and multiple emergency consultations. The diagnosis of cyclic vomiting syndrome was made and treatment with amitriptyline was started due to odulatory effect to prevent the recurrence of episodes. After 6 months of establishing it, the patient is asymptomatic.

This article presents the results of a research on the transformations in policing practices and population control during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the ways in which these changes were experienced by police officers in Córdoba (Argentina), in the case of the Villa María-Villa Nueva urban agglomerate during 2020-2021. Here we will address the conflicts that were relevant in this location during said period, analyzing the transformations that were identified in police practices and their ways of intervening in these conflicts. We analyze the interactions between police and citizens, looking to highlight the transformations of this already heterogeneous relation. Finally, we will inquire into the experiences of the police during the pandemic, with special emphasis on their perception of risk and recognition of their work, as well as on the use of force. On this basis, we consider that t...

Claspers in chondrichthyans are specialized elongations on the posterior side of the pelvic fins of males that are used for sperm transfer during copulation. The aim of this study was the description and characterization of the external morphology and skeletal components of the pelvic fin clasper of Potamotrygon motoro (Batoidea: Potamotrygonidae). The study included three juvenile specimens (2 males and 1 female) and two adult specimens (1 male and 1 female) from the Paraná River, Corrientes Capital. The samples were fixed in 10% formalin and processed using the diaphanization technique. The material was preserved in glycerol for observation. Macroscopically, sexual dimorphism is evident in males, through a structure in the posterior region called a clasper, with a slightly tapered conical shape, visible dorsally and ventrally. In diaphanous samples, the posterior cartilaginous element...

Alopecic areas have been described in the lateral and medial area of the metatarsus of South American camelids, and have been called "metatarsal glands", analogous to those present in cervids. In this study, tissue samples were collected from the metatarsal region of 8 specimens (6 adult alpacas and two foetuses [5 and 8 months]) in the slaughterhouse of Sicuani, Cusco (Peru), and were fixed in 10% buffered formalin and processed by the standard histological technique. Six samples were stained with Hematoxylin-Eosin, PAS and Golden Masson's Trichrome, and were subsequently evaluated by brightfield microscopy, and two samples of adult alpacas were processed by freezing cutting with a cryostat and subsequent differential lipid staining with Nile red and nuclear contrast with Hoecht 33342 and evaluated by fluorescence microscopy. A high epidermal tissue was observed, made up of main cells o...
