The objective of this research was to uncover the heritage values of the Modelo Market in the city of Chiclayo, Lambayeque, Peru, from the perspective of the symbiosis between the object (the market) and the heritage actors that comprise it. A mixed approach (qualitative-quantitative) was employed to provide a holistic understanding of the phenomenon, analyzing how social actors interact with the market's infrastructure and its surroundings. Finally, based on the results obtained, it is concluded that the market, throughout its extensive existence, has generated a sense of identity and belonging among the population, not only of Chiclayo but of the entire region. In the context of heritage values, it is the use value that, due to its nature and characteristics, determines the practical sense of the place.

El objetivo de esta investigación fue revelar los valores patrimoniales del Mercado Modelo de la ciudad de Chiclayo, Lambayeque, Perú, desde la perspectiva de la simbiosis entre el objeto (el mercado) y los actores patrimoniales que lo integran. Se empleó un enfoque mixto (cualitativo-cuantitativo) con el fin de realizar un abordaje holístico del fenómeno, analizando cómo los actores sociales interactúan con la infraestructura del mercado y su entorno. Finalmente, según los resultados obtenidos, se concluye que el mercado, a lo largo de su extensa existencia, ha generado un sentido de identidad y pertenencia en la población, no solo de Chiclayo sino de toda la región. En el contexto de los valores patrimoniales, es el valor de uso el que, por su naturaleza y características, determina el sentido práctico del lugar.
