A prospective study of two groups of fifty patients each were conducted. The objective was to evaluate the use of antibiotics in vaginal hysterectomy for the prevention of vaginal infections dome. The selection was ramdomnizada forming independent samples under established criteria. The study group received an intravenous cephalothin sodium gram before entering the operating room and then two more doses at intervals of six hours. The control group received nothing. In analyzing the results, we see that there was not a single case of infection in both groups dome, both the study and control groups. Applying the test "T" statistical significance for studying the contrast of two independent samples, we can say that the administration of antibiotics is not necessary in these cases. The vaginal preparation in the pre-operative is fundamental.
