Potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) is a crop of great importance worldwide due to its high nutritional value and its adaptability to different climatic conditions. In Peru, it is one of the main crops in terms of production and consumption, with Junín being one of the departments with the highest production. The aim of this research was to evaluate the effect of water stress on the growth and yield of commercial potato cultivars. Four irrigation frequencies (field capacity, every 7, 14 and 21 days) and five commercial potato cultivars (Canchán, Yungay, Wankita, Serranita and Shulay) were evaluated, distributed in a completely randomized design with a 5x4 factorial arrangement, with five replications. It was installed under greenhouse conditions and seven variables (plant emergence, plant height, number of stems, number and weight of tubers, transpiration rate and dry matter) were evaluated....

Quinoa crop (Chenopodim quinoa Willd.) is native to the Peruvian Andes, nutritious food and it has become very important for agroexport. In Piura, the downy mildew disease appeared causing economic losses, were set as objectives: detect the primary inoculum, describe the symptoms and evaluate the effect of defense inductors in the control of downy mildew. The direct detection methodology was used to observe oospores, the treatments were; Biosar, 3Tac, Agromos + Soil set, Action FP/Pare, Metalosate and control, Area Under the Disease Progress Curve (ABCPE) was evaluated, comparisons of means were made of the Tukey test (α = 0.05). Oospores were detected in all the quinoa samples, being with greater number the var. INIA-altiplano with 96 and with lower var. passankalla with 8 oospores/100 units of seed. As a symptom, yellowish spots were observed on the upper side and gray sporulation on ...

Pea (Pisum sativum L.) is an economically important crop and of great demand in the national and international market, due to the considerable number of families that depend on its cultivation, especially in the northern and central highlands of Peru. However, the anthracnose is one of the limiting factors for low productive and causes economic losses. The aim of this study was to describe the symptoms, culturally and morphometrically identify the causal agent and to evaluate under in vitro the efficacy of fungicides. Isolation was made from samples of leaves and pods with anthracnose symptoms collected in the crop field. Healthy pea was used in the pathogenicity test, and discs of PDA medium containing isolated fungi were inoculated into them. The poisoned food technique was used, and colony growths were measured to evaluate the effects of fungicides. The results based on the symptoms, ...

The banana (Musa sp.) is a very important crop in the socioeconomic development of Peru. The soft rot disease has been causing economic losses. The objective was to isolate and identify the causal agent of soft rot in banana and to implement management alternatives. Bacteria were isolated from pseudostem with soft rot symptoms from 11 producing areas in the Chira Valley. The pathogenicity tests were carried on pseudostem segments and banana shoots. The eight isolates were culturally, morphologically and biochemically characterized: All isolates were Gram negative, rod-shaped, with peritrichous flagella and colonies formed deep cavities on crystal violet pectate (CVP) medium. Biochemical tests showed a positive catalase reaction, gelatin hydrolysis, glucose and lactose fermentation, and tolerance to NaCl 5%. However, on TSI (Triple Iron Sugar) medium and erythromycin sensitivity only isol...
