Introduction: Beliefs about happiness and individual success are constructed through social interactions, as individuals set goals in alignment with societal expectations. Objective: This study aims to analyze beliefs about happiness and individual success from both psychological and sociological perspectives. Method: The analytical-synthetic method was employed in the preparation of this essay. Results: The predominant content in beliefs about happiness pertains to material values, reinforcing the notion that success is closely linked to material possessions. Nevertheless, it is crucial to contemplate the significance of non-material factors, such as health, family, and friendships, among others. At present, the transformations in society have permeated the institutions of work and family. Through a mixed methodology, we sought to know the meanings that 105 people who work for pay attribute to “Work” and “Family” in times of health emergency. Natural semantic networks were used to explore meanings and simple correspondence analysis to establish associations. The results obtained provided evidence about the meaning of work and family as social constructions, which are part of the individual and cultural identity of people, as well as the significant relationship of these constructs with gender and age.

Las sociedades transmiten su cultura por medio de las expresiones de los diferentes medios de comunicación, por lo que desempeñan un papel crucial, al constituir una fuente de creación de identidades socialmente aceptadas. Por ello, mediante un estudio cuantitativo, a través de la teoría del framing, se buscó analizar la presencia de la mujer como agente noticioso en medios de comunicación escritos chilenos. Para ello, se llevó a cabo la selección de medios de prensa escritos y se analizaron 236 publicaciones. Los hallazgos obtenidos muestran a la mujer como agente noticioso, vinculada principalmente a materias de trabajo y educación, y que es escasamente representada en tópicos económicos o en espacios públicos.
