In the present paper, a quantitative and qualitative evaluation of the wind resource was carried out in order to characterize the exploitable potential of the wind resource in the area around the city of Juliaca in the Puno region. The data provided for the years 2013-2014 by the National Service of Meteorology and Hydrology of Peru - SENAMHI, of the station located in this city, were analyzed to compare with the database of NASA (Surface Meteorology and Solar Energy. SSE, 2012). The quantitative analysis consisting of the characterization of the average hourly and monthly wind speed for a height of 25 m above the ground, comparing the average monthly speeds of NASA and SENAMHI, shows an average difference of 8.93% during the months of spring and summer, where the wind also exceeds 3 m/s, and the predominant directions of the wind is the west and the east. The qualitative analysis corres...

The design, construction and evaluation of a parallel dual-flow air heater solar collector that has the V-shaped corrugated absorbent plate and that works by natural convection is presented. The collector has been evaluated for clear sky when installed on a vertical wall in the city of Puno, oriented towards the geographical north in the autumn season. The performance parameters allowed to obtain high efficiency and the construction is low cost. The maximum outlet air temperature of the collector reached 95,7 ºC for a solar intensity of 758 W/m2, and the average mass flow for sunny days was 0,0094 kg/s, in addition it was found that the mass flow is very sensitive to air velocity and density. The average efficiency of the collector is 51,1% which represents a good performance since it extracts a large amount of completely passive thermal energy without requiring additional external ener...

The effect of the porous bed in a solar air heater with a V-corrugated absorbent plate and a design that facilitates free convection is analyzed, in terms of performance parameters and thermal efficiency. The collector was evaluated, with and without porous bed, under similar climatic conditions when mounted on a vertical wall. The results revealed that the mass flow is directly affected by the ambient temperature. It was observed that the porous bed affects the laminar sublayer of the absorbent plate generating greater turbulence that improves the rate of heat transfer, therefore, the collector with a porous bed presents a higher temperature inside and slightly decreases its efficiency. In addition, the porous bed works as a heat store that reduces instabilities which allows a uniform outlet temperature and allows to increase the operating time. The collector is inexpensive, respectful ...
