Surgical treatment of aortic arch aneurysm is one of the greatest challenges of aortic surgery. We present a young woman with Marfan syndrome, severe Excavated Pectus and previous Bentall procedure, who underwent emergency surgery for ruptured aortic arch aneurysm. We achieved a successful approach through a Clamshell incision associated with a median re-sternotomy.

Objective. To describe cardiac surgeries, their approaches, and determine operative mortality according to the type of surgery and the main complications recorded within 30 days postoperatively, performed at the National Cardiovascular Institute of Peru. Materials and methods. A descriptive study was conducted on all patients over 18 years of age who underwent cardiovascular surgery at the National Cardiovascular Institute “Carlos Alberto Peschiera Carrillo”. Results. During the year 2022, a total of 503 cardiac surgeries were performed. Of the patients undergoing surgery, 63.6% (320) were males. Isolated valvular surgery, primarily aortic or mitral valve replacement, was the most frequent surgical procedure, with 136 surgeries (27.0%). El tratamiento del aneurisma de arco aórtico constituye uno de los mayores desafíos en la cirugía de aorta. Presentamos el caso de una mujer joven con antecedente de síndrome de Marfan, Pectus Excavatum severo y cirugía de Bentall, que ingresó a cirugía de emergencia por aneurisma de arco aórtico roto-contenido. Se logró un abordaje exitoso mediante una incisión de Clamshell asociada a reesternotomía media.

Objetivo. Describir las cirugías cardíacas, su abordaje y determinar la mortalidad operatoria según el tipo de cirugía y las principales complicaciones registradas hasta los 30 días del posoperatorio realizadas en el Instituto Nacional Cardiovascular de Perú. Materiales y métodos. Se llevó a cabo un estudio descriptivo en todos los pacientes mayores de 18 años que fueron sometidos a cirugía cardiovascular en el Instituto Nacional Cardiovascular «Carlos Alberto Peschiera Carrillo». Lepidium meyenii (Maca) is a peruvian plant that is attributed as immunostimulatory activity. The objective of this study was to verify the effect of atomized extract of red ecotype, dose: 150 mg / kg and 300mg/kg, on leukocyte count and cellularity of the spleen, thymus and bone marrow of mice immunosuppressed with cyclophosphamide. After twenty days of treatment and eight days after immunosuppression, we found that the group treated with 150 mg / kg (M2-IS) had a higher leukocyte count and cellularity in all lymphoid organs, compared to untreated group (IS); but is only significant when compared to the leukocytes, spleen and bone marrow; and when compared with the control group (C), the values were not always superior. Define las características clínicas y quirúrgicas de pacientes con Cirugía de reconstrucción de la válvula aórtica en el Instituto Nacional Cardiovascular (INCOR). Es importante el conocimiento de las características de esta nueva técnica quirúrgica para tratar la patología de la válvula aortica, dado que esta es una condición potencialmente mortal y con alta carga de morbilidad. Sin la detección oportuna y el tratamiento quirúrgico de la misma, la mortalidad asciende considerablemente. El estudio es descriptivo, transversal y retrospectivo. Se tiene planificado usar ficha de recolección de datos para obtener la información de las historias clínicas, y tabular y procesar los datos con Excel y se emplear SPSS para el análisis estadístico de los datos.
