The aim of this study was to revise the recently scientific literature about risks of dental bleaching. It has been revised several articles which had for subject clínical and structural effects of tooth whitening. The principal clinical effects were tooth sensitivity and longevity of bleaching; as structural effects were seen enamel demineralization, decreasing in dentine hardness, modification of adherence capacity and morphology of macrophages and secretory capacity and proliferation of fibroblasts. In conclusion dental whitening is conservative procedure but have many risks to consider in dental treatment.

Objetivo: determinar la forma en que se presentan y analizan los resultados de las investigaciones en un campo específico. Material y método: se tomó como muestra 64 artículos de 1996 a 2001, la mayor parte del Journal of Periodontology. Resultados: se encontró que la en la mayoría de los artículos se utilizan tablas para presentar los resultados, los gráficos utilizados no son muy variados y el análisis estadístico más utilizado es de ANOVA y el t de Student. El objetivo del presente estudio de tipo experimental, transversal con diseño de casos y controles fue determinar los cambios histológicos que produce la aplicación tópica del peróxido de hidrógeno en diferentes concentraciones sobre la mucosa oral del hámster. La muestra fue constituida por 60 hámsteres dorados de aproximadamente un mes y medio de edad asignados aleatoriamente a uno de los tres grupos de H2O2 al 30%, al 3% y agua destilada.
