Este trabajo propone enfatizar, entre los distintos roles que habitualmente desarrolla el Contador, a dos de ellos que entendemos que por sus características deberían ser considerados como "postulados básicos" de la actividad profesional. El proceso formativo del profesional, misión fundamental de las Universidades, deberá tender a obtener en el más alto nivel un perfil que reúne y satisfaga las siguientes características: ser científico, técnico, crítico, flexible, investigador, innovador, creativo y humanista, con un claro sentido nacional y regional, pero apuntando al bien de la comunidad. Sin dejar de tener en cuenta la importancia que todas y cada una de las actividades que hacen a nuestras incumbencias revistan para la profesión, señalamos las del Contador-Investigador y el Contador-Educador.
