The aim of this study was to explain the influence of motivation on third year secondary school students’ reading comprehension in English in rural schools of the Punchana district 2022. This research is of an explanatory type with field study, contemporary transectional, and multivariate designs. The study population consisted of 70 students and with a non-probabilistic sample of the entire study population. The data collection tool was a valid and reliable written reading comprehension test. The results show that Spearman Rho = -0.191 for the variables with a p-value = 0.113 > α = 0.05. Meanwhile, in its dimensions: intrinsic motivation Rho= -0.174 and a p-value = 0.154 > α = 0.05, and extrinsic motivation Rho= -0.138 and a p-value = 0.254 > α = 0.05.
