The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of the supplementation of an enzymatic complex in integral diets for guinea pigs in the growing phase on productive performance. In total, 54 male guinea pigs (Synthetic line P 0.625) were used and submitted to a diet free of the enzyme complex (T1), and two experimental ones, one with 0.1% (T2) and the other with 0.2% (T3) of enzyme complex evaluated between two weeks of age (weaning) and after rearing (nine weeks old). It was statically evaluated and there were found no significant difference between treatments in relation to final body weight, weight gain, feed intake and feed conversion; and it was reported the weekly average of percentage of dairy dry matter intake by body weight.

The aim of this study was to analyze anatomic and histologically the mammary gland of the guinea pig. Sixteen female guinea pigs were used in two groups for the descriptive study of the mammary glands: Eight guinea pigs Peru breed and eight guinea pigs Andina breed. Each group was divided in subgroups conformed by: two guinea pig with eight weeks of age, three with twenty-one weeks of age and three with thirty-four weeks of age. The microscopic and macroscopic conformation of the structures of the mammary gland, its modifications and characteristics influenced by the age were evaluated. El objetivo del estudio fue analizar anatómica e histológicamente la glándula mamaria del cuy. Para el estudio descriptivo de las glándulas mamarias se utilizaron 16 cuyes hembras divididos en 2 grupos: 8 cuyes de raza Perú y 8 cuyes de raza Andina. Cada grupo se dividió en subgrupos conformados por: 2 cuyes de 8 semanas de edad, 3 de 21 semanas de edad y 3 de 34 semanas de edad. En ellos se evaluó la conformación microscópica y macroscópica de las estructuras que conformaban la glándula mamaria del cuy, sus modificaciones y características influenciadas por la edad. Para la evaluación histológica se realizaron 33 láminas en las cuales se estudiaron muestras de la porción glandular secretora y el pezón.
