El comercio justo es un sistema de certificación muy adquirido en los últimos años, debido a su popularidad de brindar un tratamiento igualitario a los pequeños productores pertenecientes a los países del Sur respecto al sistema de comercio tradicional. Además, gracias a los acuerdos comerciales, el Perú ha obtenido acceso a nuevos mercados caracterizados por ser exigentes, posicionando productos de agroexportación de calidad como lo es el café. En consecuencia, el país ha logrado ubicarse como el primer exportador de café orgánico y de comercio justo a nivel mundial.
