ABSTRACT Male patient, 54 years old, with a history of Guillain-Barré syndrome, treated with Gabapentin. Four months before admission presents autoimmune hemolytic anemia, treated with prednisone. At the time of admission to middle effort dyspnea presents, asthenia, palpitations, hyporexia, hypotension, weight decreased. Western blot test was positive for HTLV-1. Shaking hands is added. A case of Guillain-Barré syndrome and hemolytic anemia is reported in a context of infection with human T lymphotropic virus type I.
