El objetivo del trabajo fue determinar la diferencia de rentabilidad de la producción del maíz morado (Zea mays L.) en las comunidades de Maynay y Pampachacra del distrito de Huanta, Ayacucho, Perú. La muestra estuvo conformada por 26 y 24 productores de las comunidades de Maynay y Pampachacra respectivamente. La metodología fue de tipo aplicada, de enfoque cuantitativo, de nivel descriptivo - comparativo y diseño no experimental. Se utilizó una encuesta de 30 preguntas donde se determinó la rentabilidad económica, rentabilidad financiera, costo por proceso y cantidad de producción, todo ello con el uso de la escala de Likert, con una fiabilidad de 0.936 por Alfa de Cronbach. En el procesamiento de datos se manejó el Microsoft Excel, así mismo el programa de análisis de datos SPSS 21.
