Objetivo: Determinar la epidemiología quirúrgica de la apendicitis aguda en población pediátrica del Hospital Nacional Sergio E. Bernales en el periodo 2007-2011. Material y Métodos: Estudio descriptivo, retrospectivo de corte transversal, caracterizado por la recolección de la información de historias clínicas en los pacientes del estudio. La población seleccionada fue de 498 pacientes de 0 a 14 años. El instrumento fue una ficha de recolección de datos convenientemente elaborada para los fines de estudio. Resultados: La apendicitis aguda predominó en el sexo masculino (65,6%). El grupo de edad más frecuente de presentación de la enfermedad fue en adolescentes (60,8%). El principal síntoma y signo clínico referido fue el dolor migratorio, con 100% y el de Mc Burney, con un 92% de presentación, respectivamente. The purpose of this case report was to describe a technique to modify the free gingival graft by perforations within the graft to guarantee a horizontal increase in the keratinized mucosa in the anteroinferior sector of a total edentulous mandible after osseointegration of previously placed dental implants in a hybrid prosthesis protocol. A 71-year-old male underwent free modified gingival graft surgery with perforations at the level of each implant. At 3 months, the mucosa appeared to be healthy and keratinized, especially at a horizontal level around the implants previously diagnosed with mucositis, providing the patient with satisfactory results. Finally, the hybrid prosthesis was cleaned and polished due to the presentation of a hard plate at the level of the abutments.
