Objective: Compare in vitro the apical seal of thermoplastic filling systems, GuttaCore® and E&Q Master®, from the perspective of microfiltration. Methods: Forty single-rooted teeth were instrumented with rotary system and irrigated with 2.5% sodium hypochlorite and 17% EDTA. The samples were divided into two groups (20 for each system); sealed and placed in the incubator at 37°C and 100% humidity for 3 days. Each sample was covered with colored varnish except the last 3 apical millimiters to be immersed in 2% methylene blue for 3 days and centrifuged for 20 min at 3000 rpm. The samples were washed and fractured axially for their analysis in the stereomicroscope by means of photographs. For the data analysis we used the t Student test with a level of significance of 5%. Results: The mean microfiltration values were 0.660 mm and 0.825 mm for GuttaCore and E&Q Master respectivel...

Objective: To determine the apical microfiltration of three cements used in retrograde obturation. Methods: 45 monoradicular pieces standardized to 16 mm in length were instrumented with manual ProTaper® system and irrigated with 5.25% NaClO. The samples were sealed with ProTaper® F3 main cone and Denstply® accessories #A and #B; an apical recession of 3 mm was performed, subsequently a 3 mm of obturation was removed with ultrasound (Satelec Acteon) using tip s12/70D; the samples were divided into three groups to perform retrograde filling, each with different sealing cements. The samples were incubated at 37°C for 3 days; then covered with nail varnish except 2 mm apical to be immersed in 1% methylene blue for 48 hours, washed and longitudinally cut with #2 diamond disc for analysis in the stereo microscope (EduBlue ED 1402S), with the help of a micrometer (Stainless Hardened); diff...

Objetives: to compare the penetration capacity and the degree of microfiltration between a resinous sealant and an ionomer with and without ameloplasty, and with or without the placement of an adhesive prior to the placement of the resinous sealant. Methodology: 90 donated premolars, free of caries obtained previous indication orthodontic, later prophylaxis, were divided into six groups, in G1: ameloplasty was performed, acid etching, resinous sealant application, G2: ameloplasty, acid etching, adhesive application and sealant resinous, G3: acid etching, application of adhesive and resinous sealant, G4: application of ionomeric sealant, G5: acid etching, application of resinous sealant, G6: ameloplasty, application of ionomeric sealant. After thermocycling, the teeth were sectioned and the fragments observed under stereomicroscope and observation to the Scanning Electron Microscope. Resu...
