Maca is a plant that grows above 4000 m.a.s.l. in the central Andes of Peru and is consumed for its nutritional properties and health benefits. Secondary and retrospective study carried out based on the “Metabolómica, aceptabilidad y seguridad alimentaria al consumo de maca (Lepidium meyenii) en varones y mujeres adultas de Cerro de Pasco (4340 msnm) y de Lima (150 msnm)” studied concentration of metabolites of metabolic pathways of carbohydrates and lipids in plasma of adults from the department of Puno after consuming placebo, red maca and black maca for a period of 3 months using metabolomic techniques.
