Objective: To determine the association between the clinical characteristics and the location of colon cancer in patients hospitalized at "Hospital Nacional Arzobispo Loayza", during May 2009 - September 2013. Material and Methods: transversal study of 144 patients with primary colon cancer, of which 42 patients met the inclusion criteria; hospitalized in the 6-II Wing of the Department of General Surgery at "Hospital Nacional Arzobispo Loayza", between May 2009 and September 2013. Results: the mean age was 60.5 years, and 66.7% of the cases were women. 100% of histologic types were adenocarcinoma. The right colon was affected in 61.9% of the cases; the left colon in 33.3%, and a mixed location in 4,8%. Sorne studles In the llterature han descrlbed a relatlonshlp between symptoms of acule appendlcitis and the menstrual cycle. Thls prospective study was undertaken to further elucidate this information and to veriíy the incidence oí appendicitls in each phase of the menstrual cycle. 400 young women with appendicitis were studied. The method or statistical analysis used was the Chi Square test.The appendicltls was more frequent in the luteal phase; but there was no difference of statistical significance between any one phase of the menstrual cycle (menstrual vs. luteal phase, p=0.928; menstrual vs. follicular phase p=0.422; and follicular vs. luteal phase, p=0.206). the normals appendices were 3.25% of the 400 cases. Multiple endocrine neoplasia type 1 is a rare disease. It is characterized by the neuroendocrine, parathyroid, pituitary, and enteropancreatic tumor involvement. We present the case of a 19 year old patient with symptoms of headache, convulsions and weakness of the four extremities. The presence of hypoglycemia 33mg/dL was confirmed. The electromyographic study showed motor sensory polyneuropathy in all four extremities. The abdominal magnetic resonance showed a tumor in the tail of the pancreas that after the pancreatectomy was confirmed as insulinoma. The glycemia was normalized. In addition, he presented a pituitary macroadenoma, primary hyperparathyroidism and non-functioning adrenal tumor. At 25 years of age, he presented severe headache and amaurosis of the right eye.
