Sr Editor.Un Journal Club o Club de Lectura Crítica (CLC) es un grupo de personas que se reúne periódicamente, para llevar a cabo un análisis crítico de estudios publicados en revistas académicas. Su principal objetivo consiste en evaluar el grado de validación de los artículos científicos, publicados en una determinada área específica, así como su aplicabilidad, fomentando el debate público y el intercambio constructivo de opiniones.

The purpose of the present study was to conduct a literature review on the self-perception of the need for orthodontic treatment related to academic performance, self-esteem, and bullying. An electronic search was conducted for original articles (cross-sectional studies), meeting the inclusion and exclusion criteria, produced from 2018 to 2022, from the following databases: PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, SciELO, and ScienceDirect, in English, Spanish, and Portuguese languages. Finally, 20 articles were selected that met the exclusion criteria and the study design.

The historical legacy of Hermilio Valdizán in Peruvian medicine is remarkable. His humanistic approach is internationally recognized, as is his contribution to modern psychiatry. Through his numerous works, Valdizán explored topics such as the history of medicine in Perú, the treatment of the mentally ill during colonial times, as well as the evolution of the city of Lima over time. His untimely death left a great void in the field of medicine, but his legacy lives on as a significant influence on the practice and research of psychiatry in Perú.
