Las tarántulas desempeñan un papel fundamental como reguladores de poblaciones de animales pequeños, y son esenciales para estudios de biodiversidad, biogeografía, comportamiento animal y comercio ilícito de especies. A pesar de su importancia, existe una carencia significativa de información sobre tarántulas en la Amazonía oriental del Perú. Con el objetivo de abordar esta brecha de conocimiento, hemos elaborado una lista exhaustiva de especies de tarántulas reportadas para el departamento de Loreto, utilizamos datos bibliográficos de publicaciones como artículos científicos, libros, tesis y resúmenes de congresos. Tarantulas play a fundamental role as regulators of small animal populations, and are essential in studies of biodiversity, biogeography, animal behavior, and species trade. Despite their importance, there is a significant lack of information on tarantulas in the eastern Peruvian Amazon. To address this knowledge gap, we have compiled an exhaustive list of tarantula species present in the department of Loreto, using bibliographic data from publications such as scientific articles, books, theses, and conference abstracts.
