HIGH-FLOW NON-INVASIVE VENTILATION (NIV) DEVICES REDUCE THE MORBIDITY AND MORTALITY OF COVID-19. THE OBJECTIVE WAS TO EVALUATE THE USE OF THE NON-INVASIVE VENTILATION DEVICE WITH HIGH-FLOW HELMET CPAP DESIGNED IN PERU IN PATIENTS WITH SEVERE ACUTE RESPIRATORY SYNDROME (COVID-19) HOSPITALIZED IN THE EMERGENCY SERVICES OF FIVE HOSPITALS. PROSPECTIVE MULTICENTER AND CROSS-SECTIONAL OBSERVATIONAL STUDY FROM FIVE HOSPITALS FROM JULY TO AUGUST 2020. 19 PATIENTS WERE RECRUITED AND DIVIDED INTO TWO GROUPS (G-1 N = 10; G-2 N = 9) APPLYING CLINICAL AND GASOMETRIC PARAMETERS AS INDICATORS OF DISEASE EVOLUTION UPON HOSPITAL ADMISSION AND WITHIN 24 HOURS. A PROGRESSIVE INCREASE IN THESE PARAMETERS WAS OBSERVED IN THOSE PATIENTS WHO USED THE NIV CPAP HELMET WITHIN THE FIRST 24 HOURS. IN G-01, IMPROVEMENT WAS EVIDENT IN 90% (N = 9/10): PAO2 (RANGE 48–137; AVERAGE: 82.49 ± 8.07; P-VALUE = 0.008), CO2...

This paper presents an analytical solution for the static analysis of thick laminated rectangular beams with clamped boundary conditions at either or both of the beam's edges. A unified formulation known as Carrera's Unified Formulation (CUF) is used in order to consider shear deformation theories of arbitrary order. The governing equations are obtained by using the principle of virtual work. The main novelty is the use of the boundary-discontinuous Fourier approach for laminated beams in the framework of a unified formulation. Unlike Navier-type solutions, the present development can obtain analytical solutions for beams with clamped boundary conditions. A 3D finite element solution is used to validate the obtained results. The present theory can analyze clamped beams accurately so benchmark results are provided.

This paper presents an analytical solution for static analysis of thick rectangular beams with different boundary conditions. Carrera's Unified Formulation (CUF) is used in order to consider shear deformation theories of arbitrary order. The novelty of the present work is that a boundary discontinuous Fourier approach is used to consider clamped boundary conditions in the analytical solution, unlike Navier-type solutions which are restricted to simply supported beams. Governing equations are obtained by employing the principle of virtual work. The numerical accuracy of results is ascertained by studying the convergence of the solution and comparing the results to those of a 3D finite element solution. Beams subjected to bending due to a uniform pressure load and subjected to torsion due to opposite linear forces are considered. Overall, accurate results close to those of 3D finite elemen...

This study aims to contribute to the estimation of power consumption in a disintegration process in disc crushers (fixed and mobile). The study covers the dynamic analysis of forces acting on the particles and the mobile disc. A detailed analysis of the resultant force on the particles was performed. Finally, the consumed power is calculated with the forces acting on the mobile disc. The calculated power is a key aspect in the design of disc crusher machines.

The classic forms of disc crusher disintegration simulations are faced using methods that associate their analysis to the stochastic nature of the process. This paper introduces a method that can solve the disc crusher disintegration simulation with a partially deterministic manner. The paper presents the result of the thrust force and the consumed power of disc crushers which is estimated by a static analysis of forces that interact within the discs (fixed and mobile). This methodology uses the calculation of forces and directions involved in the process of particle fragmentation. The fragmented material is characterized. The fragmentation process is simulated with the help of the computer programme to finally estimate the consumed power. For comparison purposes, two types of disc crushers are designed to determine the capability of the method after assessing the results.
